Townsend, Tennessee - Fly Fishing in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, East Tennessee and Western North Carolina

Welcome to the Fishing Report from Townsend, Tennessee in the Great Smoky Mountains. The Shop is OPEN today. All of the roads in Great Smoky Mountains National Park are closed for now. The best way to find out the most up to date road condition info about the Park is their Twitter feed

Road conditions on the main roads from Maryville weren't bad. US 321 was pretty much clear the entire way. Side roads are still a bit sketchy in places.

The weather forecast for the weekend is looking possibly bad. Dan is calling the students in our Intermediate Fly Tying Class to cancel and work on rescheduling. David Perry won't be here this weekend for the Free Tying Demo. We are going to play that by ear for Gary Troutman.

Conditions on the Little River are about normal for this time of year. The water temperatures are a cold 34.1 F which is actually warmer than the last two days. We aren't supposed to get as cold overnight tonight so that might warm the water even more. River levels are good. The gauge is giving a reading of 1.76 feet or 173 c.f.s. That is below the daily normal of 300 c.f.s.

We are expecting a slow day here at the Shop. It will be a good chance for us to get caught up on work. The new version of the Online Catalog is coming along. It is going to be great once we get it done enough to launch.

I've already gotten one call looking for the fishing report so I better get it posted. My recommendation is to tie up some Quill Gordons and Parachute Adams or organize your vest for Spring. If you need something give us a call and we'll drop it in the mail.

Stay warm and be careful if you drive. Have a great day and thank you for being here with us.
