Welcome to the Fishing Report. The sun actually peaked through a gap in the clouds just a moment ago. Rain has been falling around the area but not much has fallen here. I checked the rain gauge this morning and there was only 0.05". All the rain is staying further west, north and south.

The stream flow gauge is still not registering correctly so I checked it manually up in the Park. The water is up just a bit to 1.75. It is flowing at a very good rate for this time of the year, very wadable. Little River had some color to it but was still mostly clear. West Prong of Little River was flowing clear and at a good level. The Middle Prong(Tremont) looked great flowing along cool and clear.

Sean McKay of Smoky Mountain Troutfitters emailed me with a fishing report from the Clinch. He fished over there Wednesday morning. Sean reported that fishing was steady with fish taking midges and small bead heads. He saw black caddis hatching. A few nice trout even ate dry flies.

Fishing remains good here in the Smokies. There hasn't been too many fisherman coming by the Shop this week so you shouldn't have to fight anyone for a spot on the stream.
Terrestrial patterns continue to work well. Rain can make that even better as showers knock ants and beetles off leaves and into the streams. Small attractor dry fly patterns can be effective also. #16-#18 Parachute Adams, small Thunderheads, Royal Wulff etc. With higher than normal water levels for this time of the year don't rule out nymphs.

I noticed the views of the Fishing Report haven't been going down so I guess I haven't driven too many folks away. That is a good thing! Thanks for reading the Fishing Report today.
