Welcome to the Fishing Report. It is cloudy and foggy this morning. It is 62 degrees now and it is only supposed to get up to 64 today. We might have some more rain this morning then we’ll dry out for a couple of days. We got quite a bit of rain last night, .75” at the shop.
Little River is flowing strong at 2.32 feet on the gauge or 307 cubic feet per second. Normal for this date is 71 cfs. The lowest ever recorded on this date was last year at 19 cfs. The water is clear. Wading the larger rivers might be tough in a few spots so watch your step. The water warmed up some yesterday in Little River.
Fishing has been great in the Park. Today should be that way too but there have been some changes in the conditions so that could either help or hurt the fishing. I don’t know. There will be plenty of anglers out today so we’ll find out soon.
Anglers are spotting big browns during the day and a few have been caught. I know about 2 over 20” that have been landed in the East Prong of Little River during the past week. One was 23”. This is pre-spawn time for them. The bigger fish are normally hidden during the daylight hours. Now they are out looking around at spawning areas and other fish.
Big nymphs fished deep seem to be working best. I would fish a Girdle Bug, Prince Nymph, Pheasant Tail or something that looks like a big meal. Streamers might be good too.
The leaves are turning. There are some nice yellow and orange trees showing their fall colors. I noticed our redbuds in front of the shop have started to turn. Thursday Paula and I saw one of the largest bears we’ve seen. He crossed the road right in front of us. This animal was a “ground pounder”. It was beautiful. I hope to see some next weekend on the bear and boar hunt. I won’t shoot a bear. They are too beautiful. I couldn’t do it unless it was trying to kill me.
The markets had a good week. The Dow was up almost 4%. It closed at 9864, the highest it has been since October 6th last year. The Nasdaq climbed 4.51% for the week. Business has been good here. We’re happy.
I attended our Blounty County Chamber of Commerce monthly board meeting Monday. Membership is climbing again. We are excited about that too.
I’ll be working on our website for the next few weeks. All the new gear has to be photographed and added to our online catalog. Right now I am photographing gloves for Chota. I hope to finish that job today.
We are seeing a surge in our website visits. I think we’ll end the year at around 1.1 million visitors. Last year we had 994,401 visitors. Thank you for being one of them.
Have a great day.
