Townsend, Tennessee - Great Smoky Mountains National Park
Welcome to the Fishing Report. It is another nice morning here in Townsend. I just wondered if this comes across as bragging or if it simply stirs longing in those of you reading this from somewhere else. It is still cold here. I am ready for Spring already.
Christmas is almost here. Just a few more days. Many of the companies that we buy from are closing early for the holidays or have limited shipping. At this point we can't really guarantee anything to arrive by Christmas unless you pay an upcharge for expess shipping. Most packages sent to close locations should have no problem getting there in the next few days but as soon as we take something to the post office it is out of our hands. If you are needing something by Christmas please give us a call on our toll free phone 1-877-448-3474 to check availability of the item or at very least include on the order a contact phone number or email that we can let you know about any delays or possible substitutions.
Gift cards are always a great last minute gift idea. They can be purchased for any amount and we can mail the card or even email it for all the procrastinators like me. You can buy them on the phone or Online. Gift cards that are going to be emailed can be ordered as late as 11am on Friday. We will close at noon on Christmas Eve so any orders after 11am may not get processed in time. That is still over 4 days away so you have pleanty of time.
Almost forgot. This is a Fishing Report. Water temperatures in Great Smoky Mountains National Park are COLD. Fishing during the middle to later part of the day will be better as the water has had a chance to warm some. Given the cold temperatures you are going to have much more success fishing subsurface with nymphs weighted down to help get to the bottom.
Tailwaters and Delayed Harvest streams can be good destinations this time of year. On the tailwaters the water temps are always stable and on the delayed harvest streams, the fresh stocked trout don't seem to know or care that it is too cold to feed. The Clinch is running 2 or more today and tomorrow. I guess mark that one off the list. South Holston shows it will be off from 11am till 6pm.
No matter where you go, if you go dress warm and be careful. Have a great day and thank you for being here with us.
