O.T. little pigeon today

the little pigeon is high and fast and would be very dangerous. hiked the old sugarlands trail with a digression off trail to the recently rediscovered stone house deep in the sugarlands. two stream crossings of big branch...one was on a log the you scootched your way across.....way to fast on big branch to ford or rock hop. saw a 400 (guessing) foot series of cascades and the crossing was in the middle........water dropping into little pigeon was really white and swift.....

no fishing today.

They got more rain over there than we did here. Plus the snow melted. Little River is rolling fast but it looks great.

I noticed, back in November, that the WPLPR was running higher than any other stream I saw...and the water overall was much lower back then. It was high enough for me to be concerned about wading, even by the bank. That stream has to be the beneficiary of above-average moisture in its drainage basin. Both Mt LeConte and the main ridge along the state line catch a lot of rainfall and snowfall - I also wouldn't be surprised if local wind tendencies favor that area, too.
