View Full Version : White and Norfolk Rivers

Just back from the Sow Bug Fly Tying Rodeo in Mountain Home, AR. They've had a lot of the precipitation we've missed and thus they are dumping water from the lakes. Both the White and Norfolk were running full bore (7 & 8 Generators on the White and 2 on the Norfolk) the whole week. No wade fishing to be had.

We had a 1/2 day trip booked for the wife, and John Berry and his wife Lori took her out in the boat. Since there was an open seat I went along and kept my mouth shut (yes.... it was hard). They elected to do the Norfolk as it is more "fisher friendly", but with 2 generators going we dodged whitewater all afternoon. Only caught two fish... but what we lacked in numbers we made up for in quality... the first fish was a beautiful 18 inch brown that jumped 5 times before we got him in the boat and released, and the second fish was a wild, 21 inch rainbow that took a good 15 minutes to subdue (and dodge the trees and whitewater.)

So check the release situation before heading out that way... they had some heavy rains the night we left so heaven knows when they'll be able to slow down on the generation.
