Been several eagle and osprey sightings on and around the Hiwassee in the last couple of weeks. One of the first nest (eagle) in the modern era CNF was in the sylco area last year. Also the trout fishing would rate about a 7.75 IMO currently.

Yepper, last April three of us were fortunate enough to see the Osprey being chased upstream by the big Mature Eagle who was simultaneously being chased by 2 Crows all while a Red-Tailed Hawk screamed and circled safe and high above them. This took place near Big Bend parking area. The big mature Eagle lit in a tree at one point close enough to be nicely photographed with a little point and shoot camera. Soon the Eagle flew toward the first Island and on its way scooped up a Trout from about mid stream. He then lit in one of the Island trees to eat his trophy all while the 2 Crows (now in the same tree) yakked in protest! The Osprey and Hawk did not stick around for leftovers.
Pretty "Wild Kingdom" sort of stuff that day-NEAT!

The bald eagles have become a fairly common sight on the Hiwassee this winter. Hope they nest somewhere where we can watch them raise a brood this year. I've been hearing of some awsome caddis hatches on the river in the last few days. Emergers are working well, so I hear
