Just wondering if anyone has fished the Tellico Area in the past few weeks, I plan to go up there again soon and was wondering if the water has warmed up there as well and how the conditions are.

Well I decided to head up to Tellico today despite the weather still looking to finally land my first trout in these waters, I first went up past campsite #4 on the North River looking for wild trout. I so no signs of rising fish so I tied on a nymph and tried a few spots with no luck at all. I did see a nice fresh pile of bear droppings tho:eek: . I then headed back to the main river where almost all of the good runs were occupied by corn chuckers with stringers full of stockers. I decided to try to get me some as well (considering I have never even caught a stocker on the Tellico). I tried a few runs with no luck until I found a spot that looked good and waded in. I immediately saw a couple of risers and got excited! I tied on a adams parachute and after a few casts finally hooked a fish on the Tellico! To my surprise it was a Brown Trout! I then caught what I think was a wild rainbow. Only 2 fish, but a day I will remember for a long while. I will try to post the pics below.

I'm glad you didn't give up. Keep up the good work!

Those markings are more consistent with a cut-bow hybrid.

That 'bow definitely looks wild...just like the ones in the park. Nice looking brown, too.

Caught 11 or 12 in about two hours on nymphs in the main river on 3/26/08. Water level was back to normal still really cold. Two stockers were sprinkle in the mix. See Backcountry forum. There's a thread new gear and tellico trip for pics.
