South Side Report 4/6 - 4/12

Spent a week in Bryson City around the corner from the Deep Creek trailhead last week. We timed it right, because the weather was excellent last week before the cold snap. All the hatches that have been happening on the north end of the park were happening on the south end last week. Quill Gordons, Blue Quills, BWO's etc. Here's a few pics....

I can't wait to go back. It took a week just to scratch the surface of all the opportunities just on the southside of the park. It would take a lifetime to fish all the wonderful streams in the park.

Thanks for the report! That Deep Creek 'bow is beautiful... I've been wondering how that side of the park is fishing this spring. I might just have to check it out for myself sometime soon...:smile:

Over the last three weeks I have spent a great deal of time in Forney Creek, Cataloochee, and some of my favorite little spots on this end of the park. The Fishing has been absolutely incredible. I have been fishing with my favorite fly, the Orange Palmer, and I have had a great deal of success. Over the last week, I have been tying on a BHPT dropper around 16 inches, and it has really produced. I caught the slam on Sunday as I was fishing in the snow by the end of the day. I have caught more brown than I would have imagined this early in the year, and the rainbows have been gorgeous. I'll try to post a few pics on here later this afternoon.
