Despite the fact that my wife and I had our first child two weeks ago, I managed to talk her into letting me sneak out with a few friends this morning to a nearby stream to enjoy the beautiful day. We hit the stream around 9:30 a.m. and had the place to ourselves. My friend Jim was seeking his first S.C. trout on the fly, and Jeff was after them with his trusty ultra-light setup that worked very well for him several weeks ago. The stream was in great shape and the fish cooperated reasonably well.

Here's Jim with his first South Carolina rainbow, caught on a tellico nymph. It was foul hooked, but it was a nice 7-8" rainbow which is great for this stream.

Jeff followed with fish from this nice hole, but unfortunately I didn't get a picture. This happens to be the hole that Jeff missed a fish the last time we were out that was at least 10-11" sitting back in the tailout.

I eventually got in on the action with a small bow that crashed my orange stimulator. The fish were biting pretty well on nymphs and dries the entire time, even though there was no hatch to speak of.

Here I believe Jim spotted a fish and was considering jumping in after it when he couldn't get it to take the tellico on the end of his line. Notice the Khaki pants, apparently Jim was going for the business casual look while out on the stream today. Whatever his strategy was the fish didn't seem to mind b/c I think he had the most bites of anyone. Unfortunately he also had the most long-distance releases as well.

One last picture of Jim and Jeff working two spots close together.

It was a great day on the stream with some friends. We only managed around 10 fish altogether in about 3 hours, but that was more our fault than the fish. They were biting well the entire time, but we all seemed a little rusty on our hook-sets. While it isn't the Little River, this stream is a nice little substitute close to home when I don't have the time to get to TN.
