View Full Version : Abbreviations and Acronyms

I'm pretty new at all this. I'm having trouble deciphering some of the abbreviations that are used when identifying flys. I figured out some by matching them on LRO on-line store and my Orvis fly catalog, but some I can't find. I'm sure with time I'll pick it up, but for now I'm in need of some type of cheat sheet. I'd greatly appreciate any and all help.

There's a few that come to mind quickly:
EHC - elk hair caddis
BWO - blue wing olive
PT - pheasant tail
BH - bead head...added before several different types of flies...as in BHPT = bead head pheasant tail
Hope this helps! Welcome to the board!
