Chartreuse poppers and Sunfish

What is it with the color "Chartreuse" and why do the bass and bream love a chartreuse popper so much? I've been making or buying them for years and they never seem to fail me on the warm water streams I love to fish. Byron's fishing report even mentioned the use of chartreuse poppers. I haven't seen anything on the streams that look like a chartreuse popper or even act like one when on the water. All I know it that they work and my box stays stocked with plenty of them. Whats your favorite color popper?

Not sure but I think it would be helpful to view them from the perspective of a fish. I think from below they're probably and intense medium green... a very good attractant possibly.

There is something to be said about chartreuse. Trout love the color too. Look at the Green Weenie. I notice that Gary is using a green chartreuse and a Walt's yellow chartreuse. The Gaines Sneaky Pete is a yellow chartreuse and it has worked well for decades.

Lefty Kreh has always said chartreuse is the best color for everything. He walked in here one day and Brian Courtney was tying Green Weenies. Lefty said that they are in his top ten list of trout flies. He also remarked that red was a good color for the weenies. After he went home he ordered a lot of different colors of micro chenile from us, one color being red.

My buddy Jim Evans was in here the other day buying some popper materials. He asked me if I had tried red poppers. I couldn't say for sure that I had. I'm going to give that a try. Jim says they are killer.
