It was a wet and foggy evening on the Clinch.
This guy was 7 3/8 inches and was caught on a #14 Trinia's Montana Prince Blue. I bought this fly in West Yellowstone, Montana several Years ago and I just was wondering if it would work here.

Hey Brett,
I've gotta get my June fish (Boy I wish I'd have had my camera yesterday!!) but I noticed on the May results sheet I didn't have my X for May. I did get a photo submitted though on page 1, not much of a fish but hey, a fish none-the-less.http://littleriveroutfitters.com/forum/images/icons/icon7.gif Thanks--Bran

Man, I'm so sorry....I attempted to put that together at around 2 in the morning....I was a little tired. I usually double check the whole thing about twice...I was trying so hard to figure out how to sort the names alphabetically I lost focus on what was important...Bare with me guys I'm gonna get it right as soon as I can get some time off...I'm off tomorrow and it's first on my to do list!

I will double check the list again and get it right!

My apologies again,

I'm going to be out of state for a couple of weeks in June so I'm going to go ahead and post what I've got. Road Prong brookie on one of PeteCz's yellow stimulators.

New waterproof camera.

Well ... shoot. Looks like I'm out of the running. After hitting the tri-fecta on the Clinch today my Fuji took a swim and won't "dry-out." I had a nice 'bow to show ya'll. Good luck everybody! ARGH! That's twice, so no more cameras on streams for me

JimmyC, you might want to check into some of the waterproof cameras. There are some really nice ones on the market now and its always fun to have on hand for that great catch...

I know it still early in the month but I just wanted to put this one up already. I hope to have it swapped out with something from the park, but these guys put up such a hard fight its hard to pass them up.

Where and what did you catch that fine lookin specimen? I've always wanted to catch one on the fly! I bet that would absolutely send the reel screaming! Poor mans bonefish! Awesome!

I ordered some flies from another site that deals with carp fishing, I believe they are called a meat whistle. They basically look and feel like a big jig, so they are interesting to cast. You really need the extra weight of the fly to get it to the bottom fast.

A secret I learned is to put these flies in a can of corn and let it sit outside for a couple of days. When you cant walk past it without holding your nose, its ready!!! What ever you do, DO NOT put these flies in your normal fly box, get one just for your carp flies. I think the smell gives me a slight advantage on catching these super spooky fish.

I like the corn trick! I'll have to give it a shot. I've been casting at carp and have quite a few lookers but no takers yet.

Neat trick and nice fish

Do not rely on a Polaroid waterproof camera, sorry for the quality.

This a Rainbow and Brown taken on a nymph

I also tried to resize these properly but they are not working, so resize if possible.

Hey DC, it's good to see another brother to the forum, I was getting lonely thinking I was one of the only one in our county who fly fishes! I see your from IL. and a C. O. P. too! I feel for you, lol! Hey, if you make it down here often and wanna go for a float sometime hit me up!

Glad to have you aboard!

I have family in Walland, Townsend, and Knoxville so I try to get there as often as possible. I will reverse the invitation as well. We have 11 lakes within a short distance for Largemouth Bass and Bream, both on Fly rod and regular Baitcasting. The boat is ready when you are, feel free to shoot me an email at tlegere104@yahoo.com.

06-13-2008, 10:14 AM
Well, let me be quick to tell you that If I make anymore plans without the wife this year I'm gonna end up sleeping outside. I've got a trip to Montana planed for Sept. and I'll die a long painful death if I leave to go anywhere else!

Do you guys have any good trout/salmon fishing? I've got a Sgt. who came south from St. Louis. He said he's fished a place or two up that way! It's funny I immediately looked to see how far you were from the White River in AR! I hear that's incredible, just a really really long haul from here!

Don't be surprised if I take you up on that offer, and feel free to give me a shout if you ever feel like floating a tailwater around here! fishermansfly@gmail.com

Here is a little background story before the picture. My dad and I got into the water at Center Hill at 4:00 AM, and caught a fish every half hour or so, not bad. I latched onto a monster rainbow and fought him for awhile, got him up to the boat and he was pushing 20+, my dad goes to net him and scoops from behind the fish, catches most of his body but his head weighed more so he dipped back in the water and the line snapped (before I was interested in fly fishing). I was so angry that I didn't want to fish for the rest of the day, but 5 minutes later I reluctantly threw a line back in the water. Sure enough, that cast, I catch another monster rainbow, and was lucky enough to get him netted. He was 22 inches and about 3 pounds, he was a fatty. I battled him for 15-20 minutes, he didn't want to come quietly. But here he is!

06-21-2008, 10:56 PM
OK Brett, here is my June submission for ya! Its a face only a mother could love.

Redhorse on an olive carp tease.

06-22-2008, 01:08 AM
I've caught bigger fish this month, but I had to work for this little guy.
Porter's Creek
size 12 light cahill
dangling about 5' of tippet over a rock in a pocket water about the size of my kitchen sink.

06-22-2008, 06:24 AM
Travis, Beautiful brown. That will make your day.

Troutman, Redhorse may lack subtle beauty, but they are good eating. You've got to work around the bones. I used to think pixie stixs were also great eating, so be careful with my recommendations.
Great catch.

06-22-2008, 09:51 AM
A less than 11" Brookie from Upper Falls area of Snowbird Creek on a #14 Mr. Rapidan Cripple.

06-22-2008, 12:02 PM
Man I just gotta go float with you sometime! I'd bet it put a nice bend in the glass! If you woulda had your fly box about a month ago and would have been in the boat....We, my dear friend, would have had a long day! We were sitting in a run on the Watuaga with over 50 carp (unknown species) all around the 22 to 24" mark! We tried throwing at them but they were in spawn and we didn't have the flies.

I did learn a thing or two though....You can't fish any section on the Watauga while these guys are spawning....There were clear eggs absolutely everywhere, including in a trouts belly! I also didn't happen to have any egg patterns! They were crammed full of eggs!

When and where do you want to go? What are you doing Friday night....We are thinking about a night float on the South Holston during no generation! Ripping streamers from the bank? Oh yea, can we say pig? Plans haven't changed yet but we may possibly go Friday, day! I guess as it gets closer I'll have a better idea!

Better on size this month, just the wrong species!

Here's mine for June, a Caney Fork brown caught on a zebra midge...

06-29-2008, 08:59 PM
Brett and David,
Nice fish this month. I wanted to make it out to both those tailwaters this summer, but high gas prices and the new son have kept me closer to home. Not a problem though, I have found myself a couple of sweet spots on the Clinch that I am taking advantage of.
