What did I catch kinda fish?

Last week I caught a couple of fish in the Nolichuckey R below Bewley's Chapel Bridge. Didn't have my camera unfortunately. There were about 6 inches long, elongated unlike a sun fish and had red eyes. The markings were narrow horizontal lines as opposed to vertical bars as I've seen on smallies and photos of red eye bass.

did it have a largemouth bass type look to it? If so I think they are a spotted bass. Correct me if I am wrong fellows.

Sounds like it could have been a rock bass or warmouuth.

A lot of these fish can look pretty much alike.
