I was planning on heading up to the Caney Fork this saturday for the first time. I was wondering where the access points are on the river, and what hatches there may be? Any help would would be greatly appreciated.

Headed from Knoxville on I-40 pull into the rest stop right after Exit 268. There's a little path down to the river and you can wade around in that area.

Hey thanks for all of the help, one last question how long does it take the water to rise down at the rest stop?

ajh, Fished the Caney this afternoon a few miles below the dam. Fishing was good. Leech pattern, and brassie soft hackle on the swing and tug. Some nice fish. Brooks, Bows and Browns. Not familiar with rising water at the rest stop. Hope you have as good a day as I had today.

Another quick question if the generation turns off at ten tomorrow what time would the rest area be able to wade, sorry I know this is repetitive but i want the maximum fishing time.

By the time the water falls out, that 1:00 flow is gonna catch up with you. If your gonna fish the rest stop on falling water, you can go to the bend of the river and wade out gently. If you must, you can get behind the bend in the river" downstream" and stay out of the main flow.
Maximum fishing time wading tomorrow will be right below the dam from 10:30 until 12:30, 12:45 at the3 latest for a 1st timer on this river.

Well, finally made it to the center hill dam today around 11 about one hour late which was frustrating. Then once we got there we realized we had to be on the other side of the river so we had to make a five minute drive over the dam once again. Once we got on the river things started to look up, a few quick strikes on my zebra midge and then a nice 14 inch rainbow connected with my midge for the first fish of the day. The fishing was consistent throughout the day on my midge and even managed one fish on a 16 caddis that I was using as an indicator. Thanks, Realtyman for that last minute advice or I would have drown in the currents at the rest stop. All in all a very good day fishing just wish it could have been longer.
