View Full Version : Fly Tying Chest?

Anyone know who has the best deal? I don't think I saw one last time I was at LRO, but I'm open to all suggestions.

Chest as in Desk?
If LRO doesn't have it in stock they can always get it, if you need a desk I would look in the local paper for a secretaries desk with a roll top.
I built my own and I know a few others on here have as well.
I hope I am not too far off in answering your question.

I wish I had room for a desk lol. Nah, I have a tiny house and need something like an old wooden tool box that has drawers and is easily transportable (so I can store it ina small place). My tying is basic stuff, so I don't need a whole lot of materials.

I have a hand built self contained chest that has lots of storage compartments and thread holders....and even has a vise station where you can clamp your tying vise......
I may be convinced to part with it if you are interested.....let me know and I can post some pictures....

I don't have a lot of money, but I wouldn't mind looking at it just in case. I think you guys are in for a trap game against Troy this Fall.

I'll try to get some pics up in the next few days....this is hand made by a friend of mine, but don't worry I won't be asking near what it is worth. I just don't use it anymore and it is a shame to let it sit and waste.....if you decide you want it you will be getting a steal of a deal......
as far as Troy goes, there could be some truth to that. We have USC the week before and if we do well against them, there always seems to be a let down after a big game.....and then to throw Troy in ( Troy is no sister of the poor team)....I just home they are not our App. State.......

Wow, well thanks for your kindness. If it turns out I can afford it, I will treasure it because I love handmade crafts (My wife and I are part time potters).
Troy runs a wide open offense and has a great defense. There very much like a mid level SEC team IMO and the Buckeyes struggle with SEC type offenses. You may blow them out, but I would be a little surprised. Maybe we can chat on here during the game or something.

ok BlueRaiderFan.......here's the story. I know you can afford it because the cost is as follows:
*take care of it
*grow from having it
*pass it on to someone you run into in the future who you would like to assist in thier interest of fly fishing and fly tying (can be a total stranger, someone close or even family member)....hmmmm, pay it forward?
*last of all, ask that person to do the same
wow, makes me wonder were and thru whom that beautiful piece of woodworking will travel and what life experiences will happen from it even long after I'm gone.
Now I guess I have to get some pics so you can decide if you want it.
ps....for what it is worth this box was kitchen cabinets in it's previous life, and I'm sure that even though my friend who made if for me is with the Lord, he is enjoying seeing the lives that his work touches...pics coming soon

Wow, thanks! I'll have to pay you to ship it of course! I can't wait to see it:biggrin: It will get a lot of use from me and could end up back in East Tennessee with my nephew in Maryville, if we don't adopt next year (i'm getting a little long in the tooth...If we don't have kids, in one way or another, soon, I'm going to just skip that step lol.) Either way, I hope to get a good 40 years of use out of it...I hope.
