View Full Version : JULY One fish per month challenge!!!

07-02-2008, 12:31 PM
Guys, your gonna have to forgive me....It's gonna be a few days before I'm capable of posting the results for June....I've run into some big problems here on the homestead! I'm trying to sort through a mess and won't have much free time to get on the computer and do much posting! So, I'm sorry again! Hopefully, I'll be able to post the results sometime later this week!

Take care of your business and don't worry about us! On that note here is my fish of the month, Hopefully I'll have another one to post but this is an little over 8" Speck from the NC side of the park. http://i297.photobucket.com/albums/mm235/Speckleman5/101_0102.jpg

I know I am getting started with this late but it sounded like fun so here is my first post. Its a rainbow that I caught yesterday on a size 20 bh zebra midge variant that I tied for the first time the night before. The location is tremont, time of day around 5:30 PM, weather overcast. midge was fished about a foot below a parachute sulphur size 16 that i also tied the night before and caught a few fish on.

I caught these on the clinch river on 7-12-08
First this brown

And this brookie

Guys I'm truly sorry I've not been able to post the latest update on the board..MMorgan, I really appreciate the help brother! I'm thinking I may need someone else to help manage it! I'm gonna have my hands full for the next two months trying to catch up!

I'll just say that I've just finished working my 15th straight day in a row at a minimum of a 10 hour shift, I've worked two back to back 15 hour days, and I'm just plain wore out! Last night at the end of my 15 day stretch I was chased by an 80lb rotwieler for about 20'. I was running backwards trying to give the dog the benefit of the doubt, hoping he was on a short lead! Wrong, I couldn't get the ol Tazer out quick enough and ended up tripping backwards, rolling down (feet over my head kinda roll) and embankment, and yelling various obscenities at the dog and the owner! Well needless to say, the 25lbs of gear I wear around my waist and the 10lb vest I wear all got compressed into my stomach causing everything to be forced upward into my rib cage! I'm sore now, but hey at least the dog didn't get the juice and I didn't get bit! So, now that you all have had your laugh, as everyone else did, I go back to work tomorrow morning at 6 am to pick up a few more OT hours! Alright I'm off my soap box now! The moral of the story! Don't call the police unless you have your un socialized animal put up! Holy cow, I'm gonna have nightmares about that dog!

On a more serious note, I'm gonna try working on posting that in my free time tomorrow evening. I already have everyone's names on the list but for some reason I'm having a very had time getting it from text format into picture format! Rachel or MM any suggestions? I can send you all the attachment via email if you wanna try it...it's a real bugger! I figured it out last time, barely, but I can't seem to figure it out this time! I spent about 2 hours just trying to reformat it this time! I got mad and shut the computer!

Anywho, lemme know if you can help! Fishermansfly@gmail.com

My camera got wet, so the picture isn't so great, but I caught a nice little 11" bow today on the Caney Fork. I also caught my first Brown. As a matter of fact, I caught my first THREE browns! I thought they were brookies, but have been told otherwise.

I guess the Bow is my offical entry. I caught him on the Caney Fork below the dam on a BHPT Nymph on July 11th, 2008.

Big Popper eat your heart out!

Nice pics everybody, I look forward to many more. I haven't been able to get out yet this month. Since the new boy got here, there have been family things to take care of.

We bought ours at Bass Pro- Wanderer series was a nice pack.
You have to keep your casts high or you start scaring the kids and your wife.
It would be hard to explain a fly stuck in the kids ear.

We have one, but I don't think my wife would approve of me taking our 5 wk old to the river. I saw a fisherman on the SoHo last year, the week of Christmas, with a toddler on his back. Temp was in the low 30's and the pulse was just starting to come down. Looked a little crazy to me.

Rock snot + high water + cold temps + baby = disaster

Ha! I should start making a mini fly rod with little mini fly boxes and vests ...You know, like those extra short golf clubs for little kids!

07-15-2008, 08:11 AM
Last year I made a 4' 9" 4wt. bamboo rod for my 4 year old daughter. She caught her first trout standing knee deep at Metcalf Bottoms using it.

07-15-2008, 12:50 PM
That's great! Never too early to get them started!

I am finally adding a some trout to my total. I made a trip over from Memphis in mid July. Spent one afternoon in the Smokys and a whole day on a float trip on the Clinch. I landed about 15 on Lynn's Camp Prong and slayed them on the Clinch. We were somewhere north of 50 landed between two of us. This picture is from Lynn's Camp Prong. Hope to make it back in August.

14# Striper below Melton Hill two Sundays ago. Caught on an 8wt TFO purchased from Ms. Paula herself. 2/0 Campbell/Brandt streamer (if it even remotely looked like a Clouser I would call it a Clouser, and that is enough information)

08-07-2008, 08:39 PM

WHEW!!! All the names and submitting it through photobucket is making it shrink! I'll have to redo next years results posting and have it length wise!

08-08-2008, 06:50 AM
Yo, Brett. It's looking really good. Wouldn't change a thing at this point. I really appreciate the effort you put into this - lots of fun.

08-08-2008, 07:10 PM
Yeah, that spread sheet is awesome! I feel like a rock star...

08-08-2008, 09:14 PM
You can take me off the sheet. I moved to Iowa for a new job and fishing has been sparse lately. :frown: When I do go all I've been catching is small bluegill, nothing to brag about.

I went on Thursday morning but got busted by DNR for not having a PFD on my toon. That ended my fishing early.

08-09-2008, 12:05 AM
UofMontanaAlum, nope your here to stay whether you like it or not....I stole the idea from you brother! Though you may look as if you don't fish much, but that'll be alright!

Blue & NVR, thanks guys....I wish someone else knew the exact process it takes for me to get this thing on here! It quite frankly is a big ordeal.....I have to print the file as a text document, which basically all it does is save it as a rich text file....Once that is done I have to go back to the newly printed/saved file and re-save it as a image or .gif...once that's complete I have to close everything down and open it as an image file through microsoft imaging, after opening the file I then have to edit (I use this term loosely because I'm not actually editing the picturing I'm just reformatting through paint) the file through paint which requires another save point....Uggghhh, at this point it's almost complete....I save the file as final image and open it throught Picasa (a free Google product) cropping all of the unnecessary white out and then I ship it off to Photobucket.com to get my final copy...Then it's just cutting and pasting an image link!

This is why it's always late, because I have to remember how to do all that before uploading it on here and I'm re-learning every month....So this may sound funny but I will more than likely use this as a reference next month!

Either way, I'm more than happy to do it and look forward to starting it next year, fresh with everybody on board! Fresh new start kinda deal! Now if I can just figure out how to get everyone's name in alphabetical order! MMorgan told me how you should be able to do it but for some reason it doesn't work the way I have it formatted! Oh well!

Thanks again guys!

08-09-2008, 12:29 PM
How'd you ever come up with that sequence of moves? Sounds way too slow a process for muscle memory to be of any help.

08-09-2008, 10:22 PM
Yep, that spreadsheet was one of the most tedious ideas I ever came up with. It's nice once you have it formatted but its a bugger to setup.

I guess if I have to stay on the list I had better start taking pictures of the monster blue gill I have been catching :p

08-10-2008, 12:12 AM
Trust me when I say I wish I knew! I will gladly send someone the spreadsheet if they can find a way to get it done quicker....It takes the better part of thirty minutes doing it....Thats when I remember how to do it!

PS-Montana, bring whatcha got!
