Anybody ever been on the St. Joe or the Coeur d'Alene rivers? Or any other water out that way? I am headed out that way around the 1st of August.
Just got back from four days on Kelly Creek, similar to St. Joe. Talked with folks who had just spent time there, two weeks each St Joe/Kelly, and as in Kelly, water is bigger this year than ever. MT/ID had abt 600 inches of snow, yes 50 feet, and there was still snow on the ground as we passed thru Hoodoo Pass twelve days ago. Would not dissuade you; fishing excellent, water is cold and fish really feisty. I might try flies a little bigger than usual, as water is fast and big, and they have little time to decide to eat. Kelly is south of St. Joe; turn west @ Superior MT, and over 45 miles of good dirt road. Cayuse is a major tributary, and was more managable than a lot of Kelly. Another 7 miles into there where there is good camping. All wilderness; no amenities. Have a good trip. Skip W.
