Deep Creek backcountry

Which Campsite?

I am trying to decide on a fall trip to the park. I usually visit Cataloochee in September, but this year I will be going in early October and I am considering a couple of alternatives. Deep Creek is one of my options. So, I am wondering for those of you who have visited the backcountry sites which ones do you like (I am mostly interest in #'s 57, 56, 55, & 54 - those sites seem to represent the portion of the creek that I would be most interested in fishing)?

I think you would be pleased with any of them. After Labor Day the traffic tends to die off almost completely, should have a great time with great fishing at any of them...I suggest 60 way back in the corner right on the creek......

53 has been closed since early may, anyone know why?

You really can't go wrong with any campsite on deep creek, that place is just great. 57 or 56 are good just because you can stay at one campsite but still have the opportunity to fish for larger browns in a big stream setting to brook trout.

The sign at the Deep Creek trailhead says #53 is closed for "aggressive bear activity."

Yeah i thought it was kinda weird to have it closed this long though, thought maybe there was a momma with her cubs hanging around there or something.
