Hitting Tim's Ford Lake this weekend Sat-Mon. I need some help on flies for Gars and Crappies. I have Largemouth and blue gills nailed down. I'll be doing bank/dock fishing in a nice quiet cove. No boat :frown: . Thanks alot!

Crappie I would use a small woolly bugger or marabou streamer(size 10-12), choose color depending on lighting conditions. The crappie I've fished for have not been that choosy you just have to get the fly in front of them(they generally hold tight to structure: under water bushes and trees). For gar I like to use 1/0 saltwater hooks with material that will move a lot and push a lot of water like whistler's and seducer's(for subsurface cruisers). When the gar are in the shallows cruising the weed beds I like to use small nymphs(10-8) in bright greens and light brown. I don't think the gar are feeding on the nymphs but I've noticed if you dance it in front of there face long enough they will grab it out of aggression. I have landed my biggest gar(two 6lb's) when fishing for carp with a size 10 clouser swimming nymph.
Good Luck and let us know how you did.
