Is the Sage FLI fly rod any good, or is it just "alright"? I am trying to find a good quality fly rod by Sage for a good price.

Thanks THFF

THFF.
Can't comment on the rod as I've never cast one. I do believe Sage discontinued the FLi series this year. I think new line in that slot is something like Flight (may be spelled differently but I think that's it).

Yeah, I did in fact see the Flight series rods, a few fly fishing manufactors carry them, and they are usually on sell. All of them are very high quality rods...so I'll just continue my quest for a good rod....

Appreciate it,

I just bought a Sage FLi in a 9 weight for chasing redfish and throwing big wind resistant poppers and streamers. I made the cardinal mistake of buying without trying, but that being said I am happy with the rod. It is a rocket and will certainly do what I want it to. All of my other rods are various TFO models and I like them all. I have never cast another Sage rod so I can't compare it to other models. It is a very fast rod, the finish of the rod is not as nice as others I have seen, but it is a very capable tool for what I want.

Hope this helps.

I've owned a few Sage rods now, but the 2pc 9' 5wt FLi was my first. I still have it, and it's been a pretty good rod. The action is more medium than their Z-Axis, a bit faster than say the ZXL. It's a bit heavier than the top-of-the-line Sage rods, but not too badly. I have enjoyed fishing it quite a bit.

Appreciate the feedback guys. Yeah, I've never owned a Sage rod before, I've heard they put a lot of effort into making their rods.

Ive got a fli 476-4 and I love it to fish in the mountians and small rivers. need one bigger for the bigger water. they are fast action rods. I would recomend and will buy another if I get one. My other rod is a 906-4 orvis T3. Both are very good quality.
