End of year report

As I did last year, I kept a running total on my calendar at work on how many times I fished, where I fished and the numbers for 2008. Here are my final totals:

Waters fished: Soho, Helton Creek, Tuck, Nan, Caney, GSMNP, Clinch, Fishless, and North Fork of New River.

Trip Count: 35

Trips skunked: 8

Fish count: 147 Rainbows
42 Browns
23 Brookies

Personal best fish for the year (and all time): 26 3/4" brown caught on Clinch.

Average catches per trip: 6

Time I took a wet spill: 5
Times I went completely under: 1

Here's to a pretty good year on the water and hopes and wishes for ya'll to have a spectacular year on the water in 2009.

Looks like a good year. After my trip today, I plan to do the same. I have been using an excel program for the past 3 years to chart my fishing trips. It is really useful to have this information, and look back on it the next year. I usually add water temp, hatches, and fishing patterns used.

Man, you guys are making me feel useless... I don't track all that stuff. I just try to get on the water as much as possible.

Travis, you're right! That is very useful info. wish I had it now...:/

Maybe for '09

I prefer to keep a journal of all my fishing expeditions. From inshore saltwater to tailwaters and of course many trips to the park. I don't count or keep track of fish numbers but I do keep up with the number of days that I fished on the year. Many times I will write my entries later at night reflecting with a couple of beers, makes for some fun reading when you look back. Plus as many places and types of fishing that I do, all on the fly, you can sometimes forget important imformation regarding different rivers patterns etc...which the journal can help.
