This is a replica mount of a brown I caught on the N. Fork of the White River, Oct. 1992, below McClellan's Dock. It was caught, fully revived, and released. I caught it on a #14 Red *** tied by my guide John Gulley who was out of PJ's Lodge then. PJ's has since closed and I think is under new management. I used a 3wt. Loomis IMX 9ft on 5x tippet. What a ride!
The real fish was taped at 24 1/2" long, and 16" in girth, and photographed. A friend of mine did this mount this past week. I have been sitting on the pictures all these years. It was his second brown trout. He has done a incredible brookie, and many smallmouth and largemouth that are outstanding. I am very pleased. Gary couldn't get the real girth because it would have thrown off the fins. He did however basically rebuild the lower jaw from the mounts you buy from a supplier. Great job, Gary! I will get you to throw those bass rods away someday!
