Headed up to the Soho yesterday with my friend Tom from Christian Fly Fishers.
The wind was brutal most of the afternoon, but the fish were rising to BWOs and I was able to take several on dries but most came on the dropper BHSHPT.
The river was filled with anglers as one would expect on such a nice warm Feb. day.
My best fish was taken later in the afternoon on a different stretch of river. I put on a smallmouth streamer that I had with me and hooked into a nice 16-17" brown. Great day to be out after months of cold days stuck in the house

Nice report and fish Gary! Those fish have beautiful colors... By the way, I see you are using a Measure Net. I'm looking for a new (larger) net since the nets I have are a bit small when used on large fish. How do you like the Measure Net? I'm also thinking about a Ghost Net but the price tag is pretty hefty...

I like the measure net. My daughter bought it for me for Christmas a few years ago. It works great when fishing from the pontoon. It has a longer handle to reach fish from a sitting position and I can tuck it easily into my wading belt for wading. Nice to be able to get a quick measure also.
The only downfall is that small flies get hung in the mesh easily, so you must be sure and debarb them.

For photography, I think the clear rubber mesh is better, but not sure that would justify the cost of one. I want to get a small boga grip this year instead of carrying the net all the time. They are pricey also but bigger fish are easier to control and less handling involved.

nice catches troutman. I just got some of my popper bodies in from LRO and I am going to try and tie up some of your patterns. Maybe one day I will get as good as you on tying and fishing.

Nice report Troutman, I enjoyed the photos. I really liked the shot that you posted on the photography board in the February monthly challenge.
