View Full Version : Clinger Nymph Semi Realistic

My first attempt at a semi-realistic! Got a little bit to learn. I thought biots would be a good chioce for this clinger, but apparently there is a secret to tying them in that I'm unaware of! It needs work, but I really like the way the abdomen turned out!

If you were wondering what my attempts were here ya go link (http://www.troutnut.com/specimen/475)

Proof of the tie!

Tight bobbins and patiently awaiting warmer weather!

Blue, thnks man! I'm gonna give it another go Thursday and hopefully post a tut! I photographed this entire fly for a tut, but I got flustered when it came to the legs on this fly, the rest was rather painfull and agonizing!

I appreciate the encouragement!

Caught and PA about 2 hours...In reality had I been able to focus on just the vise, about an hour...I was up and down on the phone and messing with my lil one! I'm gonna re-try it this Thursday and if I like the results I'll post a tut!

That is a nice looking fly. I think it would be a good March Brown imitation, or any of the crawler or clinger type nymphs really. I've have played with a few similar patterns and you are right, the legs are the tough part. Nice work, hope to see more from you soon.
