I became jealous :mad:;) of your trip to Colorado and wanted to tie up some of those big uglies! Now I've seen realistics done this way, but never a fishable pattern. So I played around with it bent an oddball Tiemco Hook that hasn't seen the light of day in a while, and went to work!

Here's the results. However, it may roll a bit, but with all that deer hair and foam I'm not sure. It may float on it's side?

I'm definitely liking that pattern. what's with the bent hook? Is that on purpose?

I haven't acquired any yet, but these patterns can be tied much quicker by using orange "macrame" rope for the body. google bullet head salmon fly and you'll see what I mean.

these big ugly synthetic bugs are kind of fun to tie. I'm thinking about a cicada pattern next. you got one of those?
