Show us what you got for June.

The entries for May were down from what I expected, but I guess the heavy rainfall and high water flows had a significant impact.

Good luck and Tight Lines to everybody this month.

Good job Charlie, jumping in early...

Travis, since I chose to sleep (after hiking in and out of Upper Deep Creek) rather than posting my fish from 5/31 the next morning at 8am, can I post in June? I'm just kidding you (I'll go catch a fish this month and post a pic, if I can)...keep up the good work, this is always a fun thread to read through (even if we don't contribute...)!

Yeah, Rachel. Since I'm going to be on my Colorado road trip for 11 days this month, thought I better fish while the fishing's good. Hopefully I can sneak out again before the month is out. Your turn!

Charlie, when are you going to be out there? I'll be out there most of the month...if you're interested in hitting the salmonflies on the Gunnison, bring your equipment...;)

David,

I'll be in Telluride for the music festival from June 17 through the 21 (including driving, we'll be gone from the 14th through the 24th). I'm definitely taking my equipment and thinking about stopping at the Jemez River basin in New Mexico on the way out if I can get my cousin to stop for a couple of hours one afternoon. Where is the Gunnison relative to Telluride?

Close...relatively...probably an hour or less...you're welcome to join us for a day of fishing if you're interested...just shoot me an email... Not sure if you're into the big river thing but even if the stoneflies aren't on, East Portal will be killer fishing with scuds and midges. More 16 inch trout than you could imagine with plenty of 18-20 inchers thrown in for good measure....

This is one of several caught today on a trip here in alabama. We caught around 14 bass in 3hrs then moved to another location where me and a fishing partner caught around 100 blue gill bream in various sizes. Just about every fish came from top water poppers. This bass was caught on a little river outfitters special and that is all the hints I will give. I lost 2 other real nice bass also.

Thanks everybody for the comments. It is one of the most colorful fish I have caught on the Clinch in years.

I have started carrying my DSLR with me in a waterproof pack, and the results, as seen by this picture, are tremendously better than my Olympus 740. I haven't gotten brave enough to carry my premium lenses with me yet.

Glad you made it back safely...one of these days you should do some fishing out there...

Anyway, here's a Gunnison River rainbow I caught on June 11.

David,

Believe me, it was painful being out there without my fishing gear. I heard great things about the fishing on the Gunnison last week while I was out there and our campground was on the banks of the San Miguel where there were reportedly some nice caddis hatches. Next time.

Very nice bow.

Well, I was starting to wonder if I would get a picture in this month. I went fishing early this month on the South Holston and landed a beautiful 18" rainbow but didn't have my camera. I went to the mountains last week and caught a nice brookie along with several wild browns, but again no camera. So, I got out for a couple of hours around lunch on the SoHo today hoping to get a picture. About 3 casts later I had a nice rainbow on that pulled out after a couple of minutes. I went to check my fly and the hook was buried underneath the bead of a bead head nymph that I must have taken out of the fish's mouth, really weird. I landed a really nice brown and let slip out of my hand trying to get a pic. So I guess I have to settle for 1 of the multitude of small browns and rainbows that were eating sulfurs
little brown...

little rainbow...(sorry, camera strap got in the way)

I rarely fish on Saturday, but the river really wasn't that crowded, during the afternoon hours. Good to be back on the South Holston.

I jumped the gun and posted thinking I wouldn't get back out. I fished a little while Monday afternoon (6/29) on the South Holston and caught several nice browns and a few decent rainbows. Nothing over 16", but caught several around 14-15", mostly on Sulphurs and this one on a split case nymph

Open the battery door and take the batteries out. Take the card out of the side. Set it on a window seal for a couple of days in the sun. Put new batteries in and see if it works. Mine did.

Put the camera (or cell phone) in a baggie full of rice. Better is to vacuum seal the camera in a bag of rice for 24 hours. Saved a blackberry that had been under water. Good luck

First thing I did was take out the battery and card. I swam with my cell phone, took off the battery, and put it back in when it was still wet and fried it.

Here are the results. Since I have nothing else to do while sitting in the Omaha airport I unhid the streak column used by the macro to sort standings. This way when we see Rachel, Charlie, and David's long streaks we can appreciate their efforts.

If you see any problems, please let me know.

Trey,
Don't let it get to you. I am pretty sure there have been others before you, but they have been removed from the standings since it has been over 4 months since the last post.

Flat Fly n One response to your charting...

Actually I got out of taking P-Chem by taking 2 Organic and 1 (5-credit hr) analytical Chemistry course.

I do spend lots of time at work optimizing previous Excel spreadsheets by adding various macros and other input/output functions. Probably more time than necessary. I need to give you a shout here soon and meet up to fish the Clinch once my work travels slow down.

Do that. We can figure out the streamside caloric energy used when fighting large rainbows vs browns or for once put the question to rest.....is fluorocarbon really just a nylon that has an anhydride group or hydroxylalated sub group with a floride kicker?

These things perplex me.

Oh well, back to the vise with Adam Carroll and Robert Earl Keene in the background for tunes.
