Interesting generation schedule on the Caney Fork. They are running water for two hrs and then down for 4 hrs. Anyone have any experience fishing the lower part of the river say from Stonewall down under such conditions? The Carthage ramp is about 19 miles from the dam, and I wonder if the water would get high enough to be a problem wading. The last I fished this river, when they hit the generators the ran for hours and hours, so this type of generation is new to me.

When they pulsed an hour on and an hour off it never seemed to rise too much, but I haven't fished this kind of schedule. I would still be careful though, make sure you've got an eye on the levels and an exit route if you're gonna wade. I'd like to hear what others think.

You can count on the water going down after about 10 hours. It takes the water 2 hours to reach Happy Hollow, which is 4 miles below the dam. Logic may be somewhat flawed, but it's an estimate. Best option is to go out and test it yourself, but do so with care. It wasn't but a couple months ago when a wader drowned.

I spoke to a guy at FlySouth about this. He says with that generation the water will stay high on the lower river since it will not have a chance to go down. Going to South Holston next week, so I probably will not try the Caney. If they are still running this schedule when I get back, I may check it out. For the benefit of those not close enough to fish those precious mountain streams, I'll let we know what I see.
