Tellico River smallies

I left for the Tellico at about 7 AM. Smallies sounded pretty good, so I headed for the lower/middle Tellico. I got there at about 7:30 to find that the weekend crowds have yet to arrive this early. The first 20 minutes produced a few nice bronzebacks as well as a couple of Redeye Bass. With the temps soaring to the lower 90's in the area, I decided to give the trout a break...

I'm currently planning a wild Brookie excursion/4-5 day camping trip in the park. Don't know where yet.

How far downstream are you fishing for smallies?

I started out fishing 2 miles from the 2 splits in highway 165, the left road leading up to the North River/Indian Boundary Lake and the road on the right following the Tellico and eventually heading to the Bald River/ BR Falls. I worked my way upstream and fished from here... In general, the elevation was to low and temperatures too warm in this section for trout.
