Can anyone offer some suggestions for fishing the West Prong of Little River. I have read a lot about this stream (Good and Bad) and was wondering about the quality of fishing and best place to start. Forester form Crossville.

You can hike over from Tremont on the West Prong Trail and fish upstream from where the trail intersects the river, which is a great section of river. There is also a pullout just a little way past where you turn off to go to Tremont where WPLR comes out right at the road to Cades Cove that is a lot of fun to fish from.
The West Prong is some of my favorite water to fish in the Park, but it can be really swift and difficult to navigate after heavy rains. If you fish from the pullout, there is a "trail", but it crosses the river multiple times and it is often unclear where it goes. It's really less of a trail and more of a path made by many years of anglers heading upstream. There is a point though where that path fades away and you are on your own. If you fish very far up (which is my preference... I often hike a good way up before fishing at all) it can also take a long time to hike back downstream, and you don't want to be doing it after dark if at all possible.
If you are the first one up in there for the day, you will definitely catch plenty of nice bows, especially if it hasn't been fished in a while. If someone else is already at the pullout though (it isn't a very large spot to park so you'll know) I would seriously consider fishing somewhere else. You'll catch way fewer fish if you are fishing behind someone on that stream (however that is generally true anywhere you fish in the Park).
Hope that helps!

Daniel from LRO fishes that stream quiet a bit. Might get some good advice from him. I believe from what I remember that he just fishes along the road.
