Never did get a picture of that Bow in the GSMNP last weekend, but I did get a picture of this chub, caught on a Yellow Palmer (they'll bite anything) on the West Prong of the LR. Caught him a few minutes before the bow.

and here is a brown that I caught not quite as big as the rainbow but still a awsome fish

Great googley Drag Line, those are some fine specimen you have there. Did you not see the GPS coordinate requirement in order to count fish that size in the OFPMC?

I knew there was something I forgot to do. I have some pictures of a golden trout that I caught and some smaller all above 18" that day. The best was they were all caught on my flies that I tied and got to see how good the furled leaders that I make held up to large fish. Of all the fish caught not a single one broke off or showed any ware and tare on the furled leaders. I will try and post the golden trout.

This is a nice little Bass I caught tonight. Yellow Popper. 4wt rod. Almost dark on a 22 acre lake in Northern Kentucky.
http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b110/jeffnles1/fishing/P9210020.jpg

Also, went to a tail water in Indiana last week. Got one decent hook up but it broke off at the net. About 20 minutes later, I was walking to another run and saw these guys sunning themselves on the shore. I should have known it was going to be one of those days.

That bow was just being bashful but sure was pretty. I thought that second photo really showed off the colors. It was just the cleanest looking fish if that makes any sense.

That caney brown sure is pretty with those big bright spots. I think I am going to have to come up to the Caney fork this fall if I get the chance.

David,
As the Bee Gees once said, "Stayin' alive." Nicely done.

gmr,
I understand the "clean" description. That is definitely one "clean" looking bow. Colors are almost pastel. Beautiful fish.

Upper Hadlock Pond
Acadia NP - Maine

http://i278.photobucket.com/albums/kk100/PeteCz21/MaineBrookie.jpg

Acadia NP is not really known for its fishing (the rest of the state is outstanding), but I convinced my wife to let me take the fly rod along and give it a shot. I wound up fishing from the banks of a pond in the park at sunrise. It would have been much better with a canoe, but you make the best of the opportunities you have...

Braton, there are lots of ponds (lakes would be a better description) on the interior of the island that are stocked in October (Checkout this link for the 2008 stocking http://www.state.me.us/ifw/fishing/reports/stocking/2008/annualstockingreport.pdf - go to Hancock County). If you can get your hands on a canoe or a kayak, you would have a better shot at catching some nice landlocked Salmon or bigger Brook and Lake trout. I only fished for a couple of hours (it being an anniversary trip with my wife....).

Have you ever been up there before? Shoot me an email if you'd like. This is the 8th or 9th time we've been to MDI. Lots to do and see. Based on acreage, it's the most visited Park in the country, per acre (thought that was a funny statistic considering how much traffic we have in GSMNP).

Pete,

I've got to get crankin' - you're now a state ahead of me. Nice brookie. Good to have you back in the shadow of the Smokies. Might be hitting WPLP soon; are you up?

Not the best picture, but I was in a hurry. Only had a couple of hours this morning before the generation schedule. Nice to get back out on the home waters after the trip to Yellowstone.

Finally got out today, hit some water close to home. Got the Bream on a BWO #16. It's not much, but better than nothing.

IMHO, a finned creature on the business end of a fly rod is never "not much". ;)

Well, I was hoping for something a little more substantial but September has been a very slim fishing month. So here's a couple of brookies from opposite ends of the month.

First from Snowbird Creek in NC on September 5. Caught on one of Pete's #14 stimulators.
http://i221.photobucket.com/albums/dd70/nvr2l8_chuck/Snowbird001.jpg

Then from Road Prong on September 29 on a #14 black caddis.
http://i221.photobucket.com/albums/dd70/nvr2l8_chuck/RoadProng028.jpg
That'll do.

Charlie....
Nice bookends! September has been a very slim fishing month. The waters are finally looking like something other than chocolate milk here. Maybe some fly fishing this weekend....if the rains didn't wash all of the fish away!

Thanks, Rachel. Water has been dangerously high in the Smokies but is finally getting fishable (without undue peril) again. Looking forward to posting my next installment October 9 after fishing with my two kids.
