I read yesterday about a NPS ban on use of lead, beginning 2010. Didn't mention GSMNP but I'd assume it's included. Anyone know more on this? I mostly use tungsten or other non-lead bead heads, but I guess we have to find some tungsten wire etc for weighting bodies.

Stonefly, I haven't heard anything on this ban, but I'd say it will apply to GSMNP as well since it has been adopted by the NPS. I'll ask around and if I find out anything I'll drop you a note..........Bob

Stonefly,
Much of the split shot available nowadays is already lead free. The Boss Tin and the Dinsmore is lead free. It is a little more expensive than lead but more enviromentally friendly.
We don't have these items on the Online Catalog but we have them here at the Shop.

Daniel -
Thanks, I'll get some. Do you have the tungsten wire also?

Stonefly,
We keep a "Lead Free" Wire in stock for fly tying. It comes in a variety of sizes. I think we can get a tungsten "wire" from one of the fly tying companies.
