View Full Version : Looking for advice on a guided trip
I was looking at trying to take my father-in-law on a guided fly fishing trip this weekend. I was hoping maybe the clinch but with the flows there I did not know if that would be a viable option. I would like a drift boat trip but am open to wading. If anybody has any recommendations on a guide I would greatly appreciate it. Any recommendations on a river that may be fishing well this time of year would also be greatly appreciated. I look forward to any information or help you fine people have to offer me.

Hugh Harstell has a good reputation. He is a forum member and can be found at the following link:

I think Mr. Hartsell said he's only doing wade trips these days, but I could be wrong.

Mr. Hartsell is very highly recommended. If I mispelled the name please forgive me. I have fished the mountains for years and the Hiwassee but I plan on hiring him this year just to get some of his knowledge. I also believe Walter Babb is guiding also, youi could check with LRO.

You spell his name correctly. My fingers cannot keep up with my brain, and letters pop up in strange places in a word.

the clinch is most likely will be generation, they have aready been running 2 gen's, with over 2in. of rain yesterday i would not count on it being fishable, drift or wading

There is only one guide to call in this area, Mike Bone (865) 494-0972.
Thanks to all who responded. I really appreciate the help and I am going to look in to a trip.

Ian Rutter and Tim Doyle are great guides on the mountain streams and tailwaters as well. I see them frequently on the Nances Ferry area of the Holston River.
