View Full Version : Flows from South Holston and Watuaga this weekend?

Hoping to head to bristol and fish the south holston or watauga this weekend with my brother in law, but monitoring the flows for the past couple days we are worried that the rivers will be blown out. It looks like all dams are constantly generating 24hrs a day.

Just curious if anyone had any feeling about when the flows might allow some wading? Is it likely that TVA will cut us a break Friday/Saturday?
Is there another tailrace that might be a better bet for the weekend?

Until we saw the forecast for friday/sat we were considering bringin up the john boat, but not sure how it will be trailering it around with a chance for snow/sleet/freezing rain. Anybody have any advice on that? Is it begging for trouble to bring it up and try to back the boat into the river in the snow?

Thanks for the info, it does help. Based ont the weather and flows, I think we will scrap this weekend and try again later. Trailering the boat up over the mountains and on back country roads in what looks to be heavy snow is probably more of a headache than we want.

Thanks again
