I usually pull 2-3 each time I fish the Clinch. The largest this season is a 12"....

The guy that runs the Clinch River Outfitters (the owner's son?) said his dad caught a 15" brookie from the weir pool a few weeks back.

I've never caught a brook trout from the clinch. I'm happy to catch the stocker rainbows, sometimes those are hard to come by for me.

No Hackle

I actually saw a brookie that was caught above the weir that was 18" and this was last fall. I didnt catch it but saw the thing and it looked to be in really good shape.

I caught one a couple of weeks back in the weir pool. I caught rainbows, browns and a brookie that day. My own personal Clinch river slam. Not bad considering I hadn't caught a fish on the Clinch at all until that day.

Honestly, what is the big deal with the brookies? I just don't get the infatuation with an 8" stocked trout. I understand the love of Mountain wild brookies, but not with another pellet fed fish. Please explain so I can understand.

I could understand that if they were colored up in the Clinch, but the majority are washed out and have little if any of the vivid coloration that the park fish exhibit. Having said that I did land 2 decent ones last year, 1 around 15" and the other around 17" which were both gorgeous, but that is the only ones of any color I have seen for the most part.
