secret stream 3/3/10

i mean 4/3/10. did that to a couple checks already.LOL I was asked not to advertise (small size and fragile conditions) this stream but if you know where i live you might be able to figure out where it is and leave it at that. but it is hard to get and fish so i don't think many will fish it anyways.

I saw some brown mayflies and midges hovering above some of the pools and slower runs but no rises. fished george's nymph, smbb, soft hackles. the pools was deep ended up with 3 spilt shot to get down even though the water was so clear i could see the takes. they just wouldn't move for anything above them.

I found a nice run and watched it for a while and saw a fish rising. it was tearing it up. i had no dry flies, but i did find some flies to try and one was a hook and just brown hackle. 2 casts and finally th right drift and bam the largest brookie i ever seen. had to be 11 in. or more.

further on up the falls got bigger and i had 8 hawks circling over head.

i had a little glinch i forgot to add. bushwacking through the rhodedendron i lost the top half of my rod. walked all the way back up to the top and found it 3 feet from my pack. lol

dalerio, those are some great shots and that's a very nice sized brookie, especially for that size of a stream.

One question though: Why did it take you more than five years to post the pictures...?

I got the OLD camera. here lately whenever i charge it, it messes the time up and i don't know till i look at the pics. LOL
