First of all, what a great day to be out, especially for fishing. What was strange to me though, was the fact that not many people were out, at least where I was. Finally got the cobwebs off the flyrod for the first trip of the year. (The crappie fishing has been good) Got on the water at 11:45 and there were already caddis coming off pretty good. It lasted all day with a hatch of Hendricksons mixed in, until I left at 5:00. Used two dries all day, an x-caddis and a hendrickson dun pattern, both size 16. Never saw another fisherman until after I walked out. Water temp at 2:00 was 58 degrees. Fish rising all day.....priceless.

great report, its always a great feeling to have the river to yourself. I had a terrific day along the Tellico and North R. on Sunday. Couldn't ask for nicer weather.
I live in the Chattanooga area so I prefer the Hiwassee because it closer location. So if your ever looking for a fishing partner, let me know, I'm always game!

I'm just glad someone had a better day on the river. I was honored to experience the company of two roaming boys who were chasing trout with sticks and a bucket. They were swatting the river, within 20 yards of wherever I went, in an attempt to fill bucket with fish. That was followed with very large women, in very small bathing suits, yelling at full force for 20 minutes in an attempt to call back boys.http://planetsmilies.net/vomit-smiley-31.gif (http://planetsmilies.net) Somehow I caught two fish while they were leaving (go figure) and was harassed by the whole clan to give up my fish for the bucket.
I'm following your advice and hitting the trail next time!
