My family and I spent a few days last week camping at Elkmont. Wed., we arrrived after 12pm and set up. I fished about 45min. and caught 3-4 bows in the campground area. Wed. night and all day Thursday it rained and the river rose and became fairly muddy. a kayaker would have loved the rapids! Friday the river had cleared but was still a little swift for midstream wading but the side channels were perfect. The quill gordons were not hatching as heavy as they have been over the past several weeks but I think there were March Browns were coming off. I fished only dries, Para adams and Adams Variant. The AV seems to be a good imitation of the march brown dun. Friday was a good day and caught lots of pretty bows in the campground. Next time you find the water a little high and fast, don't forget to search out those side channels!

Some of you may recognize this place!

March brown? It had a bright yellow egg sack on the tail end of the abdomen.

Looks like a QG spinner. I usually just throw a #12 Rapidan when the two may be seen together, that covers both of 'em.

Yeah, but you didn't hike for miles to catch any of these monsters, like I did (Yes, that is self loathing that you detect):
