I have noticed this action on the Clinch and South Holston in the past two weeks.
My pattern for the Clinch this past week has involved using a green soft hackle in the mornings floated in the drift at about a 45 degree angle.
After mid-day; I will usually start with an emerger and test its effectiveness alone. If that is working slow; I will add a dropper (prince nymph).
Occasionally, I will get in to a sulphur hatch and try my dries; however, I have not dialed that in just yet.
For swift current action; I have been throwing a red (greenie weenie) with a gold bead head.
I hope this helps some of you guys if you are interested in throwing some different flies than the typical fare....
