Got away last weekend for a backcountry camping trip to a nice stream on the NC side of the Park. Left Waynesville on Friday around 1:00 and was in camp at 4:00 after roughly a five mile walk. Fished a bit on Friday evening, but after gathering firewood and waiting out a pretty good T-storm, we decided to hit the sack fairly early to get ready for Saturday.
Saturday came and we hit the creek. Fishing was kinda slow at first, but when the sun started hitting some of the water and we found out what they wanted, it was on. Dry fly for the day was once again, the TN Wulff. Dropper was spotty, with most of the action coming from a small BHPT, but I ended up taking the dropper off and fishing dry only (which I don't do often, but sometimes you just listen to what the fish are telling you). Between three of us we caught well over 40 fish apiece and each caught a limit of keepers which we enjoyed creekside. Biggest fish was a 9" speck that got released to spread its genes and a couple of rainbows around the same size.
