Saturday a friend and I are going for a quick fishing trip. I say quick because I have to be at work by 4 p.m. We plan to be in the water and fishing by 7 a.m. and back to the truck by 1 p.m. (still have to travel back to Newport to get ready for work). I cannot decide whether to fish the west prong of the little pigeon where it follows 441 or venture up to Elkmont and fish the little river. What do you guys think?

Greenie, from what I've been reading, by those that would know, higher up is better. I would hike about an hour at a good pace up the trail above Elkmont and start fishing. I do think you can still catch them along the roads (in my experience). Fish the deep pools below a nice run of riffles. I would take off the dry and rig a double nymph/midge.
In the riffles might be good as well, but not in shallow riffles or in the sun in the heat of the day. Early morning as the sun is coming up might help as well, but those are guesses.

In low water, the plunge pools and steep pocket water of the WPLP will provide better action unless you want a shot at brown trout...

Thanks for the advice, guys.
