View Full Version : Middle Prong Little River 7-23

So in addition to hitting Chimneys this morning, I was able to fish the Middle Prong up from Tremont this afternoon. Again...fished slow, but consistent. Water was lower than I have seen in a while. Got hits from "little guys"...no big boys...they didn't even give things a look. Probably went deep and just stayed there. As usual I came up a Brown short of my Slam. Its always the Browns that I miss. Brookies and Bows just jump onto the hook...not really but seems like that sometimes.
Tried a couple of Drys, but most productive was a 16 yellow EHC. (I picked it so I could see the Dry!). Most took my dropper, which varied from BHPT and Hare's Ear, depending on which one I caught the last tree with. All in all it was a good day....but you know what they say "Even a bad day fishing is better than a good day anywhere else!".
Thanks to the person who posted about the little stretch of the Middle just down from the last bridge. Finished with that stretch today....and you are right it is a beautiful piece of water. It was low, but I can imagine when it is running at normal levels it would have some phenomenal little pools.

Todd....... did you happen to check the temps at Tremont?

I checked them right below Elkmont on the 23 around noon and came up with 73*-74*, was kinda shocked. Checked at the Chimneys' picnic area this morning and came up with 63*, guess that rules out a bad piece of equipment.

I'm with you on the EHC/BHPT, that's what worked best for me this morning.
