I finally was able to get out and do some trout fishing this year up in the Park. I was there for a week, 7-30 to 8-6, and got out 3 times. I did the best on my first trip out, met up with Blue Raider Fan on Saturday 7-31. We headed out early and got up into some elevation at Chimney Tops, where we would have the best chances. This being my first time really having a good idea of what to look for and approach, all due to BRF:smile:, it was my best trout fishing experience in the Smokies. After about 3 hours of "stalking" I hooked into my first Smokie trout, a 10in. Rainbow! Wow, what a rush! It was the same feeling I got when I hoooked into my first trout on the Caney Fork. These Mt. trout are so much more agressive and colorfull than the ones I'm used to. That was my only trout the whole trip but I'm still stoked from that one! The other two times I got out I hit about a 1/2 mile strech of the river headed up past the "Y" to Tremont, no luck, and fished about 1/4 mile strech from park entrance to Sugarland Visitor center along road and no luck. Still awsome just to be out fishing in the Park. I'm still learning, and with the help of BRF and others I'm sure I can improve my skills and land more Trout.
