As one newbie to another, you're right, this is a great place to get a LOT of valuable information. And a cool place to hang out as well. Welcome aboard.

Welcome to the forum Snowbird. I mostly fish the smokies but would love to try out that area around where you live sometime. I have heard a lot of good stuff about it.

Snowbird Fly--A hearty welcome, and I hope you appreciate the fact that you are dwelling in a fisherman's backside of heaven. As much as I love the Park, if I had to pick one stream in N. C. to catch a mess of trout in a hurry, it would be the lower Nantahala (with the water on!). Big Snowbird has given me countless days filled with joy, and Santeetlah once did (it is but a pale shadow of its former glory, thanks to a variety of factors, not the lest of which is otters). Incidentally, the fellow on the cover of my book, Marty Maxwell, lives in Robbinsville, and he's a walking encyclopedia of knowledge on fishing in Graham County.
