I just got a St. Croix 3 wt. today. It is much lighter than any other rod i have fished. I just had a few questions. When i am fishing with this rod for stockers, can i set the hook like i do with my 5 wt or do i need to be careful with how hard i set it. I am fishing the chattahooche and most of the fish are in the 12" range with a few around 16. I also am looking foreward to stalking wild trout with this in the near future!

Can't speak directly on the St. Croix 3wt, but I have a Scott G2 3wt and unless you're setting the hook like it's an Ugly Stix with a plastic worm I don't see any cause for concern. I think you'd most likely snap the tippet before you ran into any problems with a rod, even a 3wt.
A couple years ago, I landed a 19" brown with my 3wt and 5X tippet. I was in a tailwater and cranked the drag down pretty good on my reel. The rod had a pretty good bend when the fish got sideways in the current but no harm to the rod at all.
