Caney Fork 09/19/10 the one that got away

Caney is still fishing hot, more stockers than you can handle but it makes for a good day. Dad got his Slam bait fishing, and I lacked a brookie for my Slam.

Best fish of the day was a 14" rainbow by yours truly, fat as all get out. Would've been a beautiful brown I latched into below Lancaster that was pushing 20-22". I saw my indicator bump in an area that was completely too deep for it to have been bottom, so I knew it was a fish. Set the hook, and apparently this brown turned after it and hit it facing down river. So two insane jumps later, the brown was gone. He knew what he was doing. Only fish I lost today. :frown:

Oh no doubt. I try to handle fish as little as possible but a fish like that calls for a photo op.

For those that were wondering, I did see a significant increase of fish in the river, both large and small. Saw more big browns than I've seen in the last year easily. None of the big browns were where I expected them to be like under submerged logs or down deep. They were actually very shallow, saw a couple in the high-20s to low-30s. Also saw a couple "pods" of 16-20" fish, maybe 5-7 fish in each pod.

I liked what I saw today.
