My friend found a rod and case on the bottom of the Clinch River this morning. I know he and I would like to see it get back to the proper owner. If you have lost this or know of someone who has; please send me a description so that I can ensure it gets back to the proper owner.

REMINDER: Please add your identification to your fishing gear. It just takes a second and you never know when it may come in to play.

Shawn --- must be mine ... a Sage 99 5-wt? Dang, glad you found it! Got flipped overboard when 2-gen's hit us in a shallow craft ... just send me a pm on FB.

Thanks!
Phil

I wrote my name phone & address on my fly boxes. How do you mark a rod & reel?

It really does not take much to label your gear. Just use your imagination and make it durable. I have spoken to Byron about trying to address this issue and creating an opportunity for fly fishermen to be able to get back their gear.

An easy way would be to use a toothpick and some enamel paint to mark your name and phone number on the base of the rod. Similar to the picture attached:

However, the simplest way is to create a waterproof label or to attach a mailing label to the inside of your reel close to where you label your fly line.

Please take a moment to label your stuff. At-least you will have a chance to get it back...

Thanks again for advice that seems obvious in hindsight:smile:

I need to sucker you into a boat ride on the Clinch someday. I don't get out that way often and really only know the area from the Dam to Millers Island well, and vaguely down to Peach Orchard, and have never been below there:eek: I have a canoe I would like to take but would like to see it first to get a better idea of what to expect.

Sure! Send me an email when you are thinking about hitting the Clinch.
