Quail sighting at Hiwassee

I went down to see the cranes this morning at Hiwassee, and was surprised
to see some quail cross the road in front of the car. The quail were more interesting than the cranes.

rare occurence nowadays. I remember when I was a kid they were everywhere. Loss of habitat mainly. That and an influx of house cats.
