After skiing today, my Dad and I went out to the Eagle River. (a river we are within walking distance of) I had walked down there earlier in the morning to see what I would see. I found a couple nice spots, saw a pretty big brown, and a couple of rainbows. When we arrived my dad walkled downstrean and I went up to where I saw the nice brown. http://illiweb.com/fa/i/smiles/icon_wink.gif I got nothing in the exact spot I saw the brown, but I LDR'd my first fish about 15 yards upstream. I ended up hooking and landing a nice 14" rainbow from a spot on the other side of the stream from where I hooked the first one. Hit my top fly...(#16 prince)

I found a nice spot a little bit downstream and got this 15" brown.

He hit the prince too. After this fish I decided to leave because my hands were extremely cold. I probably could have caught more in some of the other spots I found. I ended up catching two and LDRing 3 others....Hope you enjoyed.

Went out again today and got two browns. Supprisingly they were on consecutive casts. They both measured about 14" and looked like the same fish. I didn't get a good enough picture to post of the first one, so here's the second one. It was out of the same spot as the brown from yesterday.

By the time I started fishing it was about 3:30 which is about the latest you want to out here. I went downstream and fished some great water with no results. They were probably already shut down for the day. I LDR'd a fish where I got yesterday's rainbow. Both hit a #16 prince. I guess they really like them.

Knik, my hands were a bit cold yesterday. I went out with some hand warmers today and didn't have the same problem.

I will make sure to do so...I'm going to go back out today after skiing. Should be up by tonight. The banks are pretty amazing. There are areas where the whole river is completely frozen over. It's cold water!

I went back out again yesterday. I started a little late due to some bus issues. At first, I went to the spot where I got the two browns the day before, and you'll never believe it.......two browns from there again!

This spot must be crawling with these smaller browns. A few casts later I got this guy.

I got out and walked downstream to another area. I had to hop a fence to get down to it. I got one dink of a 7 inch brown. I didn't feel it was necessary to take a picture of him. I climbed back up the bank and hopped the fence again. I walked downstream to another spot I had found a few days before. It is very deep, so I put my indicator about 8 feet above my first fly. After about a dozen casts I got a hit. When I set the hook I could tell it had some weight to it. Next it did several head shakes and ran downstream. Before I knew it my flies came flying back at me. I never even got to see him. http://illiweb.com/fa/i/smiles/icon_cry.gif I moved up in the pool and caught this small rainbow.

He was the only one to hit the prince. I guess I got the right midge pattern today. Here are some stream pics.

Thanks for the pics. Garrett, sure is purty with all the snow.

Just think......... it's in the 60's here...... Kinda cool that you will be in a whole different season/temps, with only a few hours flying time.

Thanks for all the pics!

Went back out again. The weather was great, but the fishing wasn't. I hooked two and landed one. Both in the spot where I have been getting the browns. The one I landed was about 12". I am not sure where the nicer fish I hooked the first day are. http://i765.photobucket.com/albums/xx294/troutFREAK134/DSCF2479.jpg

I went downstream and fished some great looking water, but they just were not biting. I hooked a stick and pulled it in, and I noticed it was completely covered with small cased caddis. Then, on another stick there were a bunch of cream colored midges. I guess I'll have to try something a little different. Here is a picture from the top of a mountain at Beaver Creek.http://i765.photobucket.com/albums/xx294/troutFREAK134/DSCF2470.jpg
Hope you guys enjoyed...

Went back out again today. The fishing was good, but I wasn't on fire. Right away I hooked and lost a really nice rainbow. Then I kept fishing some likely spots and hooking fish on a #22 light grey midge. I could not keep them connected. I walked further upstream than I had before and found a great spot. I regret not going up there earlier. I hooked a smaller fish, but, like the others, it got off pretty quick. I made a few casts and hooked up solidly with a nice 15-16" brown. This one did not get away.

I decided it was getting to cold to keep fishing. I ended my Colorado fishing with this fish. I never got skunked!
Hope you guys enjoyed this thread.
