Thanks to the gentleman, I think his name was Chuck, at LRO. He suggested I try a nymph with a soft-hackle dropper and some weight in between the two. The larger rainbow took the nymph and jumped twice, hooking the soft-hackle in his butt. Made for an interesting retrieve.
Caught 5 rainbow and had 1 early release. Also, for the first time, a very nice lady ranger with a huge pistol checked my license. I had already bought my new one and handed it to her which caused some momentary confusion.
That was a really big gun. What do they carry, 444 magnums?
